Exploring Minimalist Design, Sustainable Practices, and Timeless Scandinavian Traditions
Five channels, one driver. The KVB-5C-J series outputs red, green, blue, cool white and warm white independently at 24VDC, which means a single unit can run a saturated color scene, a neutral 2700K to 6500K white scene, or a tinted white that sits between the two. For designers, the practical result is that the white channels stay dedicated to white. You are not mixing RGB to approximate a usable white, so CRI and color consistency on the everyday scene come from the white LEDs themselves.
Control is Bluetooth Low Energy through Casambi. Drivers join a self-forming mesh network and are addressed from the Casambi app on iOS or Android, or from Casambi Pro for commissioning and scene programming. Indoor communication distance is 20m per node, and the mesh extends as more devices are added. Because there is no dimming wire, an external antenna replaces the control conductor, which simplifies retrofit work and low-voltage runs where a 0-10V or DALI home run would be difficult to route.
Dimming range is 1 to 100 percent, delivered by 8KHz PWM. That switching frequency is high enough to sit in the exemption band of IEEE 1789, so the output is flicker free for both the eye and on camera. This matters in kitchens, galleries and any space where slow-motion video is likely.
The electrical package is built for commercial input conditions. Universal 100 to 277VAC input covers residential and light commercial panels, active PFC holds power factor at 0.95 or better at full load, THD stays at or below 20 percent, and efficiency reaches 91 percent. Protection covers short circuit, overload at 120 percent, and over temperature at 100°C ±10°C, each recovering automatically once the fault condition clears. Working temperature range is -40°C to +60°C with derating above 40°C, and cooling is passive convection, so there is no fan to fail.
The junction box enclosure is the reason this series ends up specified on exterior and wet-location work. Input is 3 × 18AWG (black to line, white to neutral, green to ground). Output is 5 × 18AWG, with black as the shared positive and red, green/gray, blue, white/gray and yellow as the five negative channels. Custom cable configurations are available on request.
Certification is CE, SELV, RoHS and Reach, with UL8750 and CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 250.13 pending. Warranty is five years.
