Fort Myers Short Stay

A short stay house specified like a flagship hotel: three downlight apertures, tape in every reveal, and nothing on the ceilings that does not need to be there.

A private builder in Fort Myers set out to furnish a short term rental to a standard the listings around it could not match, and specified the most complete lighting package in our catalog to do it: recessed downlights in three, two and one inch apertures, LED tape in every cove and reveal, magnetic track, and step lights through the stair.

The tape does the architectural work. It floats the kitchen runs, the vanities and the nightstands off the floor, backlights the mirrors, and lines the niches: over the beds, in the showers, even in the WC. The living ceiling steps up into a lit cove, so the room reads bright off the ceiling plane rather than from a grid of visible sources.

Guests never see most of it. What they see is stone, wood and glass that appear to carry their own light, and a stair that reads as a run of floating treads after dark.
